It's day two of the Digital Dozen metal challenge! Today I have some sort of simple nails for you! I wanted this to stort of read as gold midi rings. I used a neutral base color and then painted on some dainty little gold rings!  I felt it came out really well in person although the picture isn't doing it a lot of favors!  I'm also experimenting with a new nude tone here. This one is Zoya Avery.  I normally use Butter London Tea with the Queen as my nude base but I think I rather like this one too.  It's a little more yellow than my skin tone but it works! I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night...

It's day two of the Digital Dozen Decades challenge and that means we're on to the swinging 60's!  I LOVE the 60's.  I love the music and the fashion and the boldness.  It was a time when people were starting to be more free about things and it really showed!!  I decided to go for the mod look today with some bright, neon color blocking. This mani surprised me a little because I thought it was going to take tons of time and I ended up being done with it in less than 15 minutes. Of course I free handed because I'm no good at all with tape! So it could probably stand to be a bit more precise but all in all I really liked it.  For fun, here's a Cutex ad from 1967!!

It's day four of the texture challenge with The Digital Dozen!  I rarely ever do anything textured on my nails-- outside of some sandy polish that is-- so I'm really loving how this week has pushed me to try new things.  When I first decided to do these denim nails I wasn't super sure how I was going to go about it.  I have this Barry M polish called "Denim" and thought it was very fitting, but even though it's gorgeous and matte and very "denim-y" as promised...it's not exactly textured. I found a super cool tutorial over at Meisie's Nails but it requires various colors and fabric and blah blah blah.  SO....I sort of went in a similar but different direction.  I used the Barry M for my base and then I dotted some diluted white on with some cling wrap. THEN I waited til it was sort of tacky but definitely mostly dry and pressed it into the underside of a pair of jeans.  The gold was sort of an afterthought.  I didn't love it after it was on but no way was I starting over!!  I do think it helped finish off the jean effect though. All in all it came out as a win for me! And it was SUPER easy. :) Don't forget to check out the other girls mani's below!

It's day three of the texture challenge with The Digital Dozen!  Today I did a look that was based on some tile.  It's a little hard to see the actual texture on these but in the end I felt they came out really cool. I used the saran wrap technique to make the pattern and then I pressed some loose carpet into it to make it sort of rough looking. I hope you're having as much fun with texture week as I am! It's day two of the Texture challenge with The Digital Dozen.  The Masters ended this past week and I decided to do a little homage to the game.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big golf fanatic, but my husband is so it seemed fun. Besides who doesn't love the perfect grass on those courses?  A little tip if you're going to do the golf ball look; choose a really opaque white.  I couldn't find my Zoya Purity, which is usually my go to white, so I had to substitute Essie Bone Chilling which I had to use FIVE coats of to get this solid coverage. Then I used my Seche and waited until it was nearly dry to press the indents in.  Unfortunately all the layers wanted to fix themselves so I had to KEEP on pressing the holes as it dried.  It actually looked quite nice in person but towards the tip you can see some issues when the pic is blown up!  I hope you enjoy these! The Digital Dozen DOES....Texture!

So this week the theme for The Digital Dozen is texture.  I have to admit, this week didn't really excite me. I'm just not really a texture kind of girl.  However, that's one thing I love about the group, it really challenges me to think outside my box!  My day one is a bit lame looking but in person it was rather stellar.  I had some camera and lighting issues trying to capture it but hopefully from here out my lightbox will have sorted all that! At any rate these were sort of inspired by the Disney movie, Frozen.  I used an icy holographic blue and silver and then did a silver gradient on the tips to sort of mimic the winter taking over.  The silver had holo in it too but you can't really see it here. Can't win them all though, can we? I hope you enjoy anyway!! Don't forget to check out what the other ladies came up with!!

So today's brand post is both inside AND outside the box. The design of it is quite straightforward but then it's not really very obvious to anyone looking what the brand is.  Have you guessed it yet? 


It's for Morton Sea Salt!  I had the container on my counter and thought the design was really pretty. It ended up being a great week to unveil it!!  Even though the brand logo is the little girl with the umbrella, all the Morton  brand salt products include the navy so I think it still works! ;) Check out what the other ladies came up with below! It's day two of Brand Week with The Digital Dozen and today I've gone a bit more abstract. I didn't want to do lettering across my nails and I also like that this was quite wearable without anyone wondering why I'm promoting candies!  Normally there would be a rainbow stripe with white letters and the dots beneath so I just eliminated the rainbow stripes and went with the dots on the white.

The Digital Dozen Does...Brands!

It's time for another week of Digital Dozen nail art!! This week the challenge was brands.  I started out trying to think outside the box and then sort of ran low on ideas! Today I'm starting with the one I  liked least.  It's fairly obvious that it's for Target, but as my husband aptly pointed out (after I was FINISHED!!), that's not really a brand so much as a store!! Either way though, it came out decent.  It's certainly not my favorite of the week but we all have our days! I hope you all enjoy it! Don't forget to check out what the other ladies came up with!

Day one of my skittle project is here! For those of you who are just tuning in, for the next two days I'm changing one nail on my mani to create a fun skittle effect. I'm not great at skittles cause I feel like they require extra planning somehow! I never can seem to get hte colors or patterns to play nicely together and then I end up hating it. I'm pretty sure I'm over thinking it! For this one I basically just connected the dots and added gold glitter stripes in between! It was way easy and I love the way it came out. Reminds me of a yummy candy cane!

Well there are still three days left in the Digital Dozen Red, Gold and Green challenge and I wanted to do something a little different for the next few days. I don't know about you guys but this time of year, things get HECTIC for me. This year is no better since I'm moving and changing jobs and it's just a lot at once! So for the next few days what I decided to do was do a little bit of creative skittling. My nails tend to chip in succession so as they did I just took that nail off and popped on a new design! I actually carried this out for a few more days after the challenge but the desgins after weren't so great so I've spared you the tragedy!



I started with my ring finger -- the standard accent! And then went to my pinky nail! I also made a point of using only the colors already in the manicure, plus a gold glitter which you'll see tomorrow.


I love these little sparkly dots! They're festive but not overly Christmas-y! Don't forget to check out the other girls looks!! :)

Red, Gold and Green-ish?

It's day two of the Red, Gold and Green challenge with The Digital Dozen.  Today I went for kind of a unique look and decided to play with my James Bond colors. I used a magnetic one for the base and then a gorgeous red for the tips. It sort of reminds me of braided bread and berries at the holiday.  I also really like the way it changes in the light!



I matte top coated it later but I ended up hating it. It really muted the magnetic pattern, although the tip color is just stunning with a matte finish. It's like red velvet.
