For today's post I have another recreation of a New York Fashion Week look. This is a simple reverse french. Nude on the top, white at the base. I love this look for a few reasons.  One: It's really edgy and fun.  Two: It's stupid easy. And three: it really works to your advantage if you have smaller nails, ESPECIALLY if they're rounded. Because the focus is at the base of the nail, this draws the eyes away from the short tip. Also, because the rest of the nail is kept nude and the rounded shape and embellished lunula make the nail appear to be more narrow and long.  It's really a win/win!  It reminds me of a look I did last year around the holidays with glitter sponged at the base of a nude nail.

The second look is a bit more subtle and a little more girly but the idea is the same. It really creates the illusion of a longer nail.

Awhile back I got a TON of nail supplies in the mail.  I mean, a TON.  Decals, stickers, foils, lazer foils, striping tape...you name it.  Foils were one thing I was really excited and yet terrified to use!  I've heard it's tricky, it takes practice, it can be a mess...so I picked the foil I liked the LEAST from the ones I had received and gave it a go on one nail.  It came out rather nicely though I did learn some things from round one.  The most important thing I learned: make sure there's glue on every surface of the nail!! No glue = no foil.  And there's no going back if you mess up.  Anyway a few tries later I felt I had a good handle on it so I decided to incorporate it into a mani.  The execution of this manicure isn't the problem.  It 's the concept.  The foil wasn't as gold as I thought it was and the gold I used at the base of my nails wasn't so much shiny as sparkly.  So it looks a little wonky.  But it made it 24 hours still which is a miracle given that it's foil and matte!!

Pink Wednesday is here again!!  I admit I've skipped a few of these, mostly due to the striking lack of pink in my polish collection.  Over the past month I've picked up a few new ones so hopefully I'll be able to get some better pink Wednesday mani's in the future!!  I love the idea of 'moon' mani's or reverse french mani's, whatever you call them they look super cool and are ridiculously easy to do.  I've never actually done one, only admired from afar and I think the issue I'm having with it is that it's not entirely perfect.  The moons are different sizes and some of them are a bit off kilter.  That said...I actually kind of like the way this turned out!  I couldn't stop looking at my nails all day!! And I have a new bottle of Seche Vite (which was MUCH needed)  so my nails are back to their glossy, chip free selves! The bright color of this, mixed with the Seche, topped with the fact that my nails were recently shaped gives off the impression of false nails a bit! I've had people asking me all day!  But as always, these are mine!
