Today's mani is a quick Halloween look I threw together at the last minute for work. I had done pumpkin art earlier in the week but I wanted a change that was still festive but I could wear a little longer without it screaming Halloween!! I went with this simple glitter gradient.  Now, I LOVE gradient nails BUT they are a bit time consuming and sort of a pain to do.  You need the colors, a sponge, top coat, something to mix the polish on....sometimes a toothpick or something to mix them up with, depending on the method. Then there's all the globbing of the polish and the waste. No thanks. I didn't have time for that!! So I want to show you a different method which takes WAY less time and requires nothing more than your polishes.  This works best with glitter since it's not an exact science and the glitter sort of muddles the gradient a bit. It does work with regular polishes as well though. You'll need a clear polish (NOT A TOPCOAT) if you choose that method. So here we go!!

First polish your nails with the base color. I used Lime Crime Peaches <3 Cream. Let that fully dry (or even better, use this to spruce up an old mani which is chipping at the tip!).  Then, take your second color (I've used Color Club Wham Pow) and just brush it roughly at the tip, almost like a French. Don't worry about neatness, you're just going to spread it out anyway.  Last, take the glitter polish* (or clear polish. DO not use a top coat and be sure to wipe the brush between nails) And, starting about 1/3 of the way down the nail, begin to brush it on towards the tip. Each time you take another stroke, you'll see the second color pull and spread down the nail! Easy as that! Top coat and done. Fast, easy and mess free! :)

Halloween is finally here!! This is one of my favorite holiday's of the year! I love the weather and the parties and dressing up and apple cider and all of it. One of the best things about Halloween is the pumpkin carving! I've done some pretty fun pumpkins in the past and I always try to think outside the box when I do one! So for my nails this year I decided to do some little pumpkin carvings! I used my Born Pretty brush set again for these and I really can't wait to share them with you because I'm already finding so many new things to do with so many options! Anyway I hope you all enjoy your holiday and stay safe and warm!

It's day two of the Digit-al Dozen's celebration series, The Digit-al Dozen, Does it All Again!  Today's design theme is Halloween.  Halloween is one of my most favorite times of year! I love dressing up and going to the parties and the fall weather! I can't wait for it to come around again! Today I decided to do a design based on sugar skulls.  I've seen a lot of people doing them and I haven't tried them yet so I thought now was as good a time as any! I found these super easy to do with just a simple dotting tool. I added a bit of glitter to make them more fun and sparkly but the great thing about them is that you can fancy them up any way you like!  Please don't forget to enter the September Specatcular for your chance to win a $200 gift card! It's the final day of the Digit-al Dozen Halloween challenge! I can't believe it's over already! But there will still be plenty of time for more spooky designs!  This one was so easy to do and it was so much fun to look at!! I got a lot of compliments on it!  I used Wet and Wild White On for the base and then used a Models Own Black Nail Art pen to do the stripes.  I used a dotting tool and Wet and Wild Black Out to do the eyes and noses and then stamped on the accent nail.  For a twist, I did the colors opposite on my other hand (so the background was black and the details were white).  I hope you all enjoyed the art work!! Look for my next Rehab Your Nails post this weekend! It will be cuticle related! :)  Perfect for the cooler months.

It's day four of the Digit-al Dozen's Halloween week challenge and today I decided to go all out!  I wanted to use texture and color to create a sort of bleeding monster/zombie effect on my nails.  I thought this over for a few days in my head and I had several ideas of how to go about it but at the end of the day it sort of just came together. I started with a muted green base color, OPI Stranger Tides.  You can't see TOO much of it on the final design but you can see it just a bit.  After that I used China Glaze It's Alive and lightly sponged it randomly for a little bit of color and sparkle.  I topped that with China Glaze Lightning Bolt, a white crackle.  Then I sponged Zoya Dree on top of that to make it look greener in places and THEN finally, I used China Glaze Velvet Bow to add the 'blood' and sponged on some red areas.  No top coat because I wanted the red to stay glossy and the other to be flat and textured.  It sounds like a lot of work but it really wasn't that time consuming.  Don't forget to check out what the other ladies came up with for this challenge!!

This is the first in a series of Halloween mani's which represent month number two for the Digit-al Dozen! In case you forgot, The Digit-al Dozen is a group of twelve lovely ladies (including myself) who take one week every month to do a theme manicure series.  For our preview week, we did Red and last months theme was Blue.  This week's theme is Halloween which is a bit early but apt for the month!  I didn't do this month like the last two where I had started with one manicure and transformed it into another.  I decided to just do five separate art designs this round since I love Halloween and there are so many things I wanted to try out!!  For today I've done something super simple!! Spiders!! I started  with OPI Skull & Glossbones which remains one of my favorite polishes of ever!  I used it last year for a sort of similar mani with mummies and spiders.  This time I kept it easy with a spider web and a little spider making his way across to my index using my Models Own nail art pen in black.  Then I used Nubar Black Polka Dots for the pinky and middle fingers!  Easy and fun!!  Don't forget to check out what my fellow trick or treaters are up to!!

Ok. So ONE more Halloween mani!!  Last night I was kind of bored and I remembered that I had some Halloween polish I hadn't used yet--well--not Halloween persay, but creepy!!  A few weeks back someone mentioned that you could snag the Essie Morticia's Nails set for only $10.  Where I live, ONE Essie will run you $8 so three for the price of one is a steal in my book.  I even got free shipping!  They arrived awhile back and I put them in my drawer and kind of forgot about them.  Until last night.  I was watching The Simpson's annual Treehouse of Horrors with my husband and got inspired to do ONE last Halloween mani.  I keep seeing these blood drips popping up (mostly from fans of True Blood) and I thought it would be a quick easy mani I could do for today.  And it was!  One thing I love about the Morticia's Nail's set is that all the polishes inside are jelly finish.  So while I had to use a bit more red to get a more opaque look, it was also more blood-like since blood is not really opaque.  I'm taking these off tonight before I trick or treat with my neices since I'm going as a Poke-girl (pics to come!) but they're fun for the day!! So these are my second (and final) Halloween design this year.  Hopefully next year I'll have more time and motivation to do more but it seems all I had was trouble with them this year!!  This was my second attempt at these as well although I was smart this round and tested my designs on a nail wheel before I started on my nails.  The first round was nice but the colors were all wrong.  So I started again with these murky greens.  I did kind of like the end result but the haunted house looked a bit more busy than I wanted.  Oh well. Next year! :P

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.  I love dressing up and being crazy and all the scary things that go along with it.  So I don't know why I've had such a hard time getting motivated to do Halloween themed nails.  I've seen this mummy design on a hundred other blogger's sites and this is my THIRD attempt at it.  I still don't love it but it didn't come out nearly as bad as the other two attempts!! It's much harder than it looks!  I used my Models Own black nail art pen to do the lines for that and the spider web and let me just say, I. LOVE. THIS. PEN.  It's SO easy to use and you can really get some tiny lines with it.  The spider web is my favorite part of this mani.  Oh...and the fact that it glows in the dark! I used the glow in the dark polish UNDER the nail art pen and then again over the white on the eyes so that the design would appear in the dark.  It worked great although it wouldn't photograph for anything! :/  I hope you enjoy the nails and hope everyone is having a great Halloween!! (One more creepy design is on the way :P)
