Doux et subtil...

This is a technique I've seen a few times and I've been wanting to try it out but just hadn't gotten around to it.  It's basically a softer, more subtle, more modern version of your classic French mani.  I love how clean a great French manicure can make your nails look but I also think that they can look really dated.  Color choices are also a MAJOR part of what makes your French look wicked posh versus horrific flashback.  There are also a million and a half ways to wear a French and now with glittery tips and colored tips and everything else it's just endless the things you can do with one.  For me this was a really nice change.  It does give off the appearance of a French manicure but it's so much softer and it looks really fashion forward.  It's professional AND fun. :)  I jazzed this up ever so slightly with a gem stone and after I did it I wished I hadn't but what can you do? :P Thanks for following along! Have you tried this look?

It's not my fault you're like, in love with me, or something...

It's been awhile since I did a simple french manicure.  I usually like to have something more 'artistic' on my nails but there's something to be said for the simplicity of a fancy french as well!  It was also a good opportunity for me to test out my striping skills!! I didn't love the stripes I created so I threw some dots in there to cover it up! I think the end results was pretty good. :)

Enjoy and thanks for following!  Have you ever covered bad nail art with MORE nail art?

It Ain't Easy Bein Green

Recently I got my hands on the China Glaze Halloween Crackle set.  It comes with four polishes: Cross Iron 360, It's Alive, Black Mesh, and Goulish Glow.  I really only wanted It's Alive and the Goulish Glow but for $11 I basically got the other two for free anyway!  It's Alive is a green glitter and it's pretty awesome.  It has micro glitter AND larger hex glitter in a deep green jelly base.  Of course I couldn't wait to use it so I put it on right away and I wasn't disappointed!  I like to use a base coat under my glitters for several reasons.  One: it seems to keep them from chipping longer, two: it prevents you from wasting glitter by using a million coats for coverage, and three: it makes removal easier.  For this mani I used Zoya Dree as a base.  It's a deep olive green with a dusty sort of quality to it.Then I added two coats of It's Alive.  I wanted to add a bit of interest to it so I did a french tip with Zoya Veruschka.  It's part of their Matte Velvet line but it looks great with a shiny finish as well! Two coats of Seche and done!

Here's a close up of the glitter in It's Alive.  Isn't it amazing?

Base: Zoya Dree
Top Coat: Seche Vite

You can catch me. I'm a heffalump.

These nails are somewhat inspired by the Heffalump movie.  I was watching it the other day and I loved the colors of the Heffalump, Lumpy.  And since I recently got some new dotting tools, I thought I'd try to do something simple, fun, and of course, purple!!  Sorry the picture isn't the greatest.  I was out of town when I did this mani so I had to make due with what lighting I had!

Base is: OPI Rumple's Wiggin.  Tips are OPI Planks A lot.  Dotted the opposite colors on with a dotting tool!  Enjoy!
