M is for Mink Mitten...(and Man Glaze!)

It's time for the letter "M" in the A,B,C Challenge!  I'm really excited about today's post because I haven't worn this brand in awhile and I had forgotten how much I love them!  This is ManGlaze Mink Mitten.  Mink Mitten is a metallic purple suede. All ManGlaze polishes are suedes or mattes.  A matte is meant to describe a flat finish on a creme polish. A suede is to describe a matte polish with a shimmer finish.  To me, all the ManGlazes are in actuality, suede polishes. BUT...who cares really they're absolutely stunning!  Something else I love about ManGlaze is that they wear for a long time and they dry quickly.  This is two coats of Mink Mitten and it's just flawless.  Even after two days at work there was only minimal tip wear and that's fantastic for a matte with no top coat. Here's a close up of the shimmery goodness of Mink Mitten!!

Gorgeous.

Don't forget to check Kerrie and Emma's blogs to see what they have for the letter "M"!!

American Graffiti

Here we go with day three of the Digit-al Dozen art challenge. Today's mani is inspired by graffiti.  I actually quite like graffiti.  I know it's basically vandalism but I think it's really interesting to see the different styles and types.  Street art is usually inspired by a very different muse than classic art.  That said I'm not super great AT graffiti.  My husband used to draw fat graffiti letters which were really cool but I failed at recreating them.  So this is a sort of lame attempt but I liked the results anyway!  I used a suede base to emulate concrete and then used a series of neons and some black and white polish to create the letters.  I used a matte top coat over the whole of it since I felt it looked more graffiti-like!  Don't forget to check on the other girls art work for today's challenge!

Models Own: Black Nail Art Pen
China Glaze: Hang Ten-toes, I'm With the Lifeguard, and Sun-kissed

Royal Matte-astrohpe

These nails were sort of inspired by a design I found in a nail art magazine.  They're also an attempt on my part to start using some of the million 3-D nail art supplies I currently own!  I don't know what it is about rhinestones and beads and stickers but I just can't seem to get motivated to use them. Could be that I change my nails every other day?  At any rate I started with a base of ManGlaze Royal Matterimoaning.  Royal Matterimoaning is a velvety navy blue with a ridiculous amount of shimmer to it.  It's SO gorgeous both matte AND shiny which is one thing I love about ManGlaze.  There is no wrong way to wear them!  They also have an incredibly lush formula. This is one coat of Royal Matterimoaning and it lasted with ZERO topcoat and no chips for almost four whole days.  That's a record for me with most non-matte polishes so to have a matte perform that well for me is a win.  I used Revlon White on White and a nail art brush to paint on the swirly design at the top. I left it gem free for a good while but then I felt like it was missing something so I popped a rhinestone on.  I hope you all enjoy and thanks for following!! :)

I'd rather stay here Van Gogh

Today's nails came from complete and total boredom and a love for a polish I recently bought.  A few weeks ago CVS ran a huge closeout sale on Revlon's.  I went and was underwhelmed.  But I did pick up a cherry scented red and a matte white called Powder Puff.  This is not that white.  I actually kind of hated the Powder Puff.  It was streaky, dried surprisingly slow for a matte polish and it had an odd sort of frosty finish.  Awhile later during the Sally winter closeout I picked up a bunch of Orly's and when I got home I realized that I was one shy of  having the whole Holiday Soiree collection.  What was I missing you ask?  THIS polish.  Au Champagne.  I really didn't want to buy it because I don't need anymore whites and I thought for sure it would be a frosty mess.  But it's actually one of my favorite polishes from this year.  It dries almost matte but it has a wonderful suede-y type of finish.  It looks EXACTLY how I wanted Powder Puff to look.  I kept it on a full day before adding this art to it.  I'm not sure what really inspired the art but I used my Models Own art pen and then after the lines were on I decided to add some dots and....voila! This.  Lol...the dots are done with the suede version of OPI Ink.  Then I Seche Vite'd the top for a shiny finish. :)
Enjoy and thanks for following! Are there any polishes you thought you'd hate that you ended up loving?

Leave it at matte

I love matte nails.  The only thing I love more than matte nails is suede nails!! This is Suzi Ski's in the Pyrenee's and this particular color reminds me of pencil lead! It's flat, but shimmery and the perfect color of grey.  I love the OPI suede's too because they seem to have better formula than other brands.  I had a similar color in my polish stash which I keep thinking I'm going to get around to swatching as a matte to see if they're dupes.  It turns out that once matted, China Glaze Jitterbug (seen on the tips) is NOT a dupe.  But they look incredibly similar in their natural states! Anyway I have an epic post for tomorrow: My very first Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge! And I'm so excited to share it with all of you! So I'll keep this one short and sweet. :)

Enjoy and thanks for following!
