This is a quick look I put together with some of my new Zoya colors. I'm REALLY loving Payton, a deep wine sort of purple with holographic glitter throughout. You can't see the holo effect in this picture but it's just a beautiful fall color in sunlight or shade.  I threw Tomoko over the accent nail which is another of my must have fall colors. It's not quite silver but not quite gold either. I'd call it a champagne but I feel like it almost leans just a touch too silver for that as well. Either way it's like a foil-y, shimmery, metallic-y matte. It's just stellar. This is two coats so you can see that it's also quite opaque.  I really love these textured polishes as a topper for the standard glossy finishes.  I think the contrast is really stunning! It's time for the letter "K"!  I'm really excited about this one because I haven't had a lot of excuses to wear this gem and I'm glad I finally got around to it!  This is Picture Polish Kryptonite.  This is the only Picture Polish I have and just based on this one, I need MORE!  The formula is fantastic; this is two coats of polish. It goes on smooth and the brush is mid-sized, not too fat or too skinny.  The only thing I don't love is the size of the bottle.  But it's worth it for this gorgeous color!  You can't see it very well in this picture but this has holographic flakes of glitter running through it as well. So pretty! :)

I'm so incredibly excited for the swatches I have for you this week!! I'm not normally a big indie polish lover. Don't get me wrong, there are a few I really adore, but many of them are difficult to get a hold of, expensive, disappointing, and don't have longevity.  I can't speak for the longevity of this polish myself since these are my first bottles and I got them at the beginning of the month. However, from what I've seen and heard (and the appearance of my bottles after several weeks) I can vouch that they are good quality polishes.  These are from a brand called Shimmer Polish.  I've seen these around and they're just lovely but I hadn't tried any for myself until these stunners came in the mail.  I have five total to show you from the new line and they are all as amazing as the one before them!  I wanted to give them each their own post so you can really see all of them in their glory and appreciate them!  This is the first on the list!  She is called Tracy.

Tracy is described on the Shimmer polish store as a tarnished holographic gold and that's exactly what she is.  More over there are SO many colors packed into Tracy and it gives your nails a very disco ball effect.  There are glittery polishes and then there are Shimmer polishes.  If you own any of the China Glaze 3D glitter polishes then you'll understand what I mean when I say these take sparkly to a whole new level.

This picture is a macro shot from the ShimmerPolish store.  You can see that it's just completely packed with glitter. Most of the glitters are gold and there are several sizes and shapes including bar glitters, hex glitters and micro glitters. It also has reddish bronze glitter, green glitter and holographic glitter.  As far as application and formula I would liken these to the infamous OPI Burlesque glitters.  You can absolutely layer them but I only used two coats above and as you can see it's not hard to achieve full coverage.  The polish is thicker but mostly because of the amount of glitter inside.  Despite being on the thicker side they are not hard to work with and dry pretty quickly.  They do NOT dry shiny but that's also to be expected with such an amount of glitter. Two coats of Seche Vite sorted it right out and it was smooth and shiny and...I really wish I could capture the amount of sparkly! I have four more of these glorious beauty's to show you this week so stay tuned for them!!

OK I'll admit that every time butterLONDON releases a new collection I get the feeling that I NEED them all.  This fall's collection is no exception.  Except that...well...it is.  I went to the store the other day with the full intention of purchasing several polishes from the new OPI Germany collection.  When I got there one of the sales girls was RAVING about the new colors.  I was unimpressed.   I twirled them about in my hands and shined my iPhone flashlight on them (yes I do that. You can never be too sure about polishes in the bottle!), shook them and held them at all angles.  Boring.  So I decided to pass on them, go home and play with the hoards of polish I already have.  Here comes my husband with several familiar little square bottles in his hand, "Have you seen THESE?!" he asks me.  Well, in a word, yes.  But I'm kind of past the point of being impressed by holographic finishes and sparkly glitters.  That said...the polishes he chose are gorgeous.  His picks?  Trustafarian, the stunning polish you see above.  It's a light, sage green laced with linear holographic shimmer.  What I love most about this one is that it doesn't dull in the shade or lose it's luster under topcoat.  Its fabulously stunning AT ALL TIMES. And flawless application which I already expect from butterLONDON.  Also in his hands were Lovely Jubbly, which is no surprise to me since he's a sucker for glitters.  I was stunned at the smoothness of Lovely Jubbly.  I found the color and coverage very similar to the OPI Burlesque polish, Simmer and Shimmer.  But while the OPI polishes are thick and goopy, this one is perfect and smooth.  One coat of Seche Vite took away all grittiness and left it glassy smooth and shiny.  His final choice was Gobsmacked.  While I DO love the color, I have several dupes for it so we swapped it out for Shag, a fabulously decadent copper.  I'll be swatching all of these for you in upcoming posts but for now let's focus on Trustafarian.  I wore it on it's own for two days before I decided to 'jazz it up' a bit with some Essence The Huntsman polish.  I'm SO incredibly in love with the combination.  In the shade the butterLONDON goes green and rainbowy and the Essence lights up with gold and green flakes and glitter.  In the sun Trustafarian lights up like a disco and The Huntsman glitters like a pot of gold. Perfection.  My favorite combo I've done so far!!  I'm including a close-up of the two below so you can see the goodness!!

And...book four!  The Goblet of Fire.   I actually really loved this book as well...I know, I know...but I think it started off a whole lot of new things, like the physical return of Voldemort and also his followers.  It finally threw Snape into the pot as a would be assassin for Lord Voldemort and it started to make things much more real where the threat of the Dark Lord was concerned.  I also loved the idea of the TriWizard Tournament.  I think it was so much fun to see that there are other magical schools and that they might be very different from Hogwarts.  And who can forget Hagrid's new love interest?  It was also sad in a way, of course, since Cedric dies. :(  This book also started to show us Harry's more 'teen' side since he's chasing after Cho and Ron and Hermione's relationship starts to shift more heavily into romance and away from friendship...although, the most we see here is jealousy!  Anyway I wanted to focus my nails around the tournament and the players.  My thumb represents Mad Eye Moody, who, incidentally doesn't REALLY appear in this book until the very end, despite having a large role throughout it.  The index represents Krum and the Durmstrang school.  I used a bit of flocking powder down the center to represent the furs they wear.  The middle, of course is for Hogwarts and Harry.  It's not super exciting: the Gryffindor crest.  The ring finger is for Fleur and the Beauxbatons.  It' s actually holographic since she's part Veela and I thought it was fun that it comes alive in the sun but goes sort of dull in the shade since the Veela are meant to be very beautiful but also very ugly and dangerous.  The Bauxbatons also wore a lot of silver and blue so it worked well all the way around.  And then the pinky of course is for Cedric and his house of Hufflepuff.  I hope you're all enjoying this series!

So it's day eight of the 31 Days of Christmas Challenge and that means today we're doing snowflake nails! I was a bit worried about this one because my last snowflake nails didn't come out too hot!  but this time I decided to go for something a little more subtle.  I also felt it looked a little vintage because of the colors!  I wasn't entirely happy with the snowflakes but it was pretty and sparkly on my nails and that's what counts! These also kind of remind me of the paper snowflakes I used to make as a child. I love snow! I really can't wait for lots of it! :)

So I bought this color awhile  back when I was first getting into Models Own colors. I had heard that they had a great formula and didn't chip forever so I picked up a few to test them out.  At £5 each they're not too expensive, but they're not exactly top of the line either.  I was pleasantly surprised with the formula of them though.  It was indeed SUPER easy on application. Smooth, two coats for most colors, and it really does last days without chipping.  And that's really saying something on my nails because even with Seche Vite and top of the line polish I still manage to chip my nails after at least the third day.  This particular color, Juicy Jules, is a medium holographic glitter.  The best thing about it (besides the ridiculous length it stayed on my nails--nearly 9 days NO chips) is that it dried almost completely smooth which is something I've not experienced with a glitter polish yet.  No topcoat needed.  Still I layered on one quick coat of Seche Vite (mostly to speed dry time!) I wish it had been more sunny when I took these pictures because this stuff REALLY lights up in the sunlight. But it looks great indoors as well!  :)
