Not my Cup of Tea...

It's the final day of vintage week with The Digital Dozen!! Today I modeled my design after some vintage china tea cups I have which I love.  I think this one came out pretty much exactly like I wanted except for maybe that the flowers are a bit more dark than I anticipated.  I also love the way the chrome looks here. I've just nearly captured it's super shiny, reflective finish here and it really mimicked the platinum ring on my cups perfectly! This picture is quite dark but it's the china which inspired me:

I hope you all enjoyed this week with us! Please check out my fellow ladies designs below! Don't forget to check back later in the day for some Valentines looks! ;)

Enter the Circus...

It's Day Four of the Digital Dozen Vintage Week!! I can't believe this week has nearly ended already! It seems like it's only just begun.  So these nails are actually the second ones I did for the week but for some reason I ended up liking them more than the ones that came after! That's how it always goes isn't it?  Anyway these are sort of based on those old circus tents. My husband said they reminded him of Water For Elephants which wasn't really what I was going for but fits nonetheless! I hope you enjoy them! Please don't forget to check the links below to see some more vintage themed nails!!

Wood if I could...

It's day two of Vintage Week with The Digital Dozen and today I went with a pretty abstract 70's kind of theme. I was going for kind of a pine wood look with some fun stripes. I liked it in the end but this is also one of those times when I wish I'd stopped long before I did! I really loved the ring finger but then once they all had stripes I kind of felt it was too much! Oh well, in the end it still had the effect I was looking for! Reminds me of 70's pine paneled walls and furniture!

I love this kind of thing! I hope you all enjoy the design today and please check out what my fellow Dozener's came up with for today!!

The Digital Dozen does...VINTAGE!

You'll have to excuse my absolutely horrific photography this week! I don't have a lightbox and since moving it's been difficult to find a great light source. Especially with the completely DISMAL weather we've had of late. Hopefully I can find a good balance soon! But for now, apologies, you deserve better! At any rate this week is vintage week with The Digital Dozen and I'm so excited about it because I LOVE vintage. I still have a record player, wear vintage clothing and jewelry and I love old music, films, etc. So this week I had no shortage of inspiration.  Today's nails are inspired by those old 50's era appliances with their minty color and chrome accessories!  I wanted a sort of 50's pattern as well but I couldn't find anything that I felt truly was what I wanted so I settled on this sort of mod circular look!  All in all they came out rather well.  I used the new chrome polish from the OPI Gwen Stefani collection and while I LOVE the way it looked (wish I could've captured the finish on this one!) I didn't top coat it and it started sort of rubbing off like lead from a pencil about three days in. Still a cool look though! I hope you enjoy! Don't forget to check out my fellow Dozener's looks for today!

In a MINT-ute...

Well it's the final day of the Digital Dozen's tape mani challenge week. For today I wanted to use tape in a different way and this is one of my favorite color combo's! I had some gold nail strips on hand anyway that I received in a swap ages ago. I used the other half of the box on accent nails so I decided to use these in a new way! I used some fancy scissors and cut them into shapes. Then I adhered them on top of the polish and top coated to finish. The finished look was really stunning! I have to say, this week has challenged and very much inspired me. Some of the things the other ladies did are just out of this world. I definitely want to try to experiment more with tape! I hope it inspired some of you as well! Don't forget to check out their amazing designs for today!

A Vintage Twist

These nails were actually what I wore for my birthday.  It's been a really long time since I did anything super fancy on my nails and I have LOADS of fun beads and tapes and other such novelties so I decided to break them out for my birthday.  I used my favorite color combination for this one and one of my favorite patterns!! I started with a plan to use tape to make the chevrons but I gave up on that pretty early on.  It just seemed like too much work, so I free handed it instead.  The original design had just the green minty nails and the gold, pearls, and roses were sort of an after thought but I love the way it turned out! It's so vintage and Marie Antoinette. LOVE. The green base on these nails is Zoya Neely. Such a lovely soft green.  It's a hair less blue than butter LONDON Fiver so I feel great about getting both. Plus, let's face it I'm addicted to mint green!!

butter LONDON Fiver

I have another butter LONDON swatch for you today! This is also from their upcoming Spring line and it's called Fiver. Fiver is a mint green so you know I HAD to have it.  I have about twelve million mint greens and I can honestly say, this one is my favorite. It's not super green and not super blue.  It's also a nice light color but it's not pale or muted.  It reminds me of appliances from the 50's! I love that the colors in their new line have a sort of vintage appeal to them.  This one also looks great with Kerfuffle, the peach tone I swatched for you earlier.  It too was opaque in two coats and even though the formula is on the thin side these are really easy to work with. I had no streaking and no bald spots. It dried to a fabulously shiny finish as well. Perfection. :)  I love it when a color turns out to be exactly what you hoped it would!

Did you pick up any of the new butter LONDON's? Which is your favorite?

Peachy Sheen Glitter Queen

I'm so so in love with peaches this summer.  I have no idea why because for a long time I avoided them like the plague.  They seem to scream "old woman!" to me...but ever since someone sent me a gorgeous coral-y Leighton Denny called Hepburn, I can't get enough.  I also love that peach tones look great with my skin tone and they're soft and girly but not pink or red!  I was itching to use my other new Tokidoki polish this week so I decided to sponge it over another color in the hopes that glittery tips would hold up at work (which they actually did!).  The Tokidoki polish, Savana, is gold and pink microglitter but I was really hesitant to use pink for the base so I decided instead on this peachy color from Barry M.  It came out looking absolutely magical.  I love it!  The pink micro glitter is just soft enough that it doesn't clash with the peach and the effect was super soft and just a little bit flashy!  It also has a bit of a vintage vibe to me, which you know I love!  I hope you all enjoy and thanks for following!!
