Ok so today I'm cleaning out the vault and while most of the things I did ages ago were deemed not worthy of the blog, this was a look I thoroughly enjoyed and so, despite the nubs and the not so great lighting (and that TEENSY chip on my thumb!) I wanted to go ahead and share it with you.  I actually did this art last fall and I'm not sure why they never made it on here because I really LOVE them.  At any rate I digress.  I hope you like my little fall birdies!  Thanks for following along!!

Well ladies and gents, it's St. Patrick's Day!!  I can't believe it's here already. Time really has been flying hasn't it?  Anyway I've done a few different designs over the years for St. Patrick's and this year I wanted to go a little more simple but still incorporate all the important things! Gold, rainbows, green and shamrocks!  So here is my simple design. :) For the ring finger I layered two different gold polishes to make it a little more visually interesting and for the pinky finger I wanted to do a sort of rainbow in the sky look so I sponged blue over a white base and then added the rainbow over the top.  I hope you enjoy them! For today's Geek Week nails I wanted to go a little more abstract!  I'm a little disappointed in how the ring finger turned out for this.  The emblem on the uniforms is meant to be a gold rimmed silver but the contrast just didn't really work for this mani.  Still, I love all of it together! If you haven't figured it out yet, it's Star Trek!! These are representative of the uniforms from The Next Generation version of the television show.  There were three uniform colors: red, blue and gold.  In general, red is indicative of commanders and helm crew, blue is indicative of medical staff and science personnel and gold indicates a security, engineer or operations crew member. There were of course, exceptions to this like in the case of Deanna Troi who wore purple a lot and various other colors.  Then there are gold pips on their collars which are admiral insignia.  I started with the idea of doing specific pip numbers to represent cast members (like the red with four pip's for Captain Picard) but as the seasons went on many of the crew earned more pips so it seemed a lost cause!  Anyway I hope you enjoyed the design! For today's ABC Challenge I have a gorgeous Essence polish to show you! It's called One Kiwi A Day and it's from the Fruity collection.  It's basically a shimmery pastel green polish with little greenish blue glitters in it.  I like that when it builds up the glitters get sort of muted and the shimmer starts to flash more.  This is three coats and it builds to a nice opacity even though it starts out pretty sheer. I used the Essence Fruity top coat over this cause it smells like fruit!! :)  It does dry pretty shiny though even without top coat!

This is another really simple manicure for Love and Heartbreak week with the Digital Dozen.  Lately I've been really getting into the nude with a flash of color look.  One thing that's really cool about them is that whatever you pair them with really pops and yet it's still soft enough that you can wear it to work or professional events.  Last month I reviewed the butter LONDON GOOP collection and I know I said that the only must have is Hampstead  Heath but I retract that statement! The one I've used the most is this one, Bread and Butter Pudding.  I'm dying over how shiny and healthy it makes my nails look.  It reminds me of a subtle gel mani I had ages ago.  Anyway for this one I went simple and just added a burst of color at the base with some glitter and two little hearts on the accent nail. :) Simple and sweet. Just like me. :P

Today I have a simple design for you. Funny enough I had a dream about doing these nails, so when I woke up...I knew I had to recreate them. It's fate, right? I debated a bit on what to use for the blue color and I almost used OPI Dating a Royal but I like this a lot better. It's nice and clean and simple and made up of two of my favorite colors!!

Today for the A,B,C challenge we have the gloriousness that is Chuck. Can't you just swoon over him?  I don't get much into his namesake.  The Gossip Girl books were a super fun fluff read for me but the show is just...well I don't have kind words for it so I'll just leave things at that.  But I die for the Essence twins and aside from Edward and Bella (another fun fluff read ruined by the big screen!) I think this one is my favorite.  Not only is he a gorgeous, bright blue but he's also opaque in two coats and shiny when he dries. :)  I didn't want to do much in the way of art today and matte top coating Chuck made him into a serious mess. :(  So here's him with his glittery soul mate, Blair.

OK I'll admit that every time butterLONDON releases a new collection I get the feeling that I NEED them all.  This fall's collection is no exception.  Except that...well...it is.  I went to the store the other day with the full intention of purchasing several polishes from the new OPI Germany collection.  When I got there one of the sales girls was RAVING about the new colors.  I was unimpressed.   I twirled them about in my hands and shined my iPhone flashlight on them (yes I do that. You can never be too sure about polishes in the bottle!), shook them and held them at all angles.  Boring.  So I decided to pass on them, go home and play with the hoards of polish I already have.  Here comes my husband with several familiar little square bottles in his hand, "Have you seen THESE?!" he asks me.  Well, in a word, yes.  But I'm kind of past the point of being impressed by holographic finishes and sparkly glitters.  That said...the polishes he chose are gorgeous.  His picks?  Trustafarian, the stunning polish you see above.  It's a light, sage green laced with linear holographic shimmer.  What I love most about this one is that it doesn't dull in the shade or lose it's luster under topcoat.  Its fabulously stunning AT ALL TIMES. And flawless application which I already expect from butterLONDON.  Also in his hands were Lovely Jubbly, which is no surprise to me since he's a sucker for glitters.  I was stunned at the smoothness of Lovely Jubbly.  I found the color and coverage very similar to the OPI Burlesque polish, Simmer and Shimmer.  But while the OPI polishes are thick and goopy, this one is perfect and smooth.  One coat of Seche Vite took away all grittiness and left it glassy smooth and shiny.  His final choice was Gobsmacked.  While I DO love the color, I have several dupes for it so we swapped it out for Shag, a fabulously decadent copper.  I'll be swatching all of these for you in upcoming posts but for now let's focus on Trustafarian.  I wore it on it's own for two days before I decided to 'jazz it up' a bit with some Essence The Huntsman polish.  I'm SO incredibly in love with the combination.  In the shade the butterLONDON goes green and rainbowy and the Essence lights up with gold and green flakes and glitter.  In the sun Trustafarian lights up like a disco and The Huntsman glitters like a pot of gold. Perfection.  My favorite combo I've done so far!!  I'm including a close-up of the two below so you can see the goodness!!

I had the pleasure of choosing the subject for this week's Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge and I chose: 

It didn't take me any time at all to figure out what I would wear this week.  

I picked up this color a few months back at an Ulta for around $2.  At the time I was stoked about finding it because I had every other polish from the Vintage Vixen collection and I thought the nude color looked gorgeous in the bottle.  Well...guess what? It looks hideous on my nails.  If you need reminding how bad it looked, you can check out my original post here.  Almost three hundred polishes later and it's still my least favorite. Why do I keep it you ask? Well, I guess I just can't bear to break up the collection!  I recently picked up some Essence Rock You top coat from a friend in Spain and I was excited by the prospect that it might make this polish more wearable for me.  The results?

I actually like it.  It's still not my favorite color and I could use some practice working with the Rock You topcoat because you can see some visible streaks.  But otherwise, I think it made the polish a much nicer color!  It remains to be seen if I'll wear it again!! But I'm excited to see what other results I can get from the smoky finish topcoat!! I put some Catrice In The Bronx on the tips for a little added twist! :)
