Purple Heart Tart

A super sparkly mani for today because my week is starting out not so super sparkly!  Sparkles make everything better, right?  There are a few things that led to today's color combo.  I wanted to try out my new Barry M Lilac Foil for starters.  It's odd because I have a few 'foil' finish polishes already.  My favorites are the Orly Foil FX line.  Not only are they metallic and shiny but they also have a micro shimmer throughout which makes them just gorgeous on the nail.  The Barry M foils...well...not so much.  They can be streaky, they dry to an odd flat-ish finish, and they're not incredibly shiny OR sparkly on the nail.  They're kind of like the flat, gross side of the roll of aluminum foil!  After three coats and still streaks I decided to cover it up with something more flashy.  Enter Tart with A Heart.  I LOVE this butterLONDON color.  It was part of their holiday collection this year and it's just mesmerizing.  There are all different colors of glitter throughout it, even black, and it looks completely different depending on what color it's used over. I actually quite liked this combination, even if it is lacking in the creativity department!!

31 Days of Christmas: Glitter Bomb

Well it looks like I got a little flummoxed about the days for the 31 Days of Christmas Challenge. Seems that I should have posted my glitterbomb yesterday instead of the pudding nails. But, alas, it's too late now! The one rule of the challenge and I've already broken it! lol...still I'm going to keep trying to complete all the mani's!  So here's my late and untimely Christmas glitterbomb.  I used China Glaze Love Marylin (from the gorgeous new Eye Candy 3D glitter collection) and then added a coat of OPI Fresh Frog of Bel Air.  After that I alternated coats of the two for a total of four coats.  It was much more sparkly than this picture makes it look!  But still, very Christmas-y!

31 Days of Christmas: Most Festive Red

I've had a super busy week, so I apologize for this one going up late.  Wish I could blame it on blogger being stupid but this time, it's my own fault!! This is day 10 of the 31 Days of Christmas Challenge and the task is to use your most festive red polish. I went back and forth a bit on this one.  I started out thinking I'd use Color Club's Santa's Cinnamon.  Then I decided I'd go with Barry M Red Glitter instead.  Then this gorgeous Deborah Lippmann caught my eye.  It's Do Ya Think I'm Sexy and I must admit...I do.  I LOVE this red glitter.  It's like a disco ball on your nails.  Wicked sparkly and unlike any other glitter I own!  So you can see why I decided to use it!

Enjoy and thanks for following! What's the most festive red in your collection?

Stripe attack!

Lately I've been SO sick and SO tired. I literally went to bed at 7PM twice this past week.  I've been busy during the day and a week long migraine only added to my misery.  Last night I finally started to feel better and after I packed up a few swap packages I took off my polish.  I intended to re-do it this morning so I sat down with a nail wheel last night and played around with some designs.  This was one of them.  It took me some time this morning to get the motivation to actually do the art and then after I finished I realized I forgot the shimmer polish and had to start over. Hate that.  But I think my technique improved the second time around!  This actually looks much more intricate than it really is.  It took me no time at all to do from start to finish but everyone who has seen it thinks it's professional and has mentioned there's NO way I did it myself.  I'm even more proud of the fact that it's done entirely free hand.  Even the leopard print which I normally would use my trusty Konad stamp for, is free handed on this one.  I may do a tutorial for it in the future if I get enough interest because it really is SUPER easy and it looks really cool on your nails!!

Enjoy and thanks for following!! I'm off to set up my Christmas tree! :)

Base is: Models Own BlooBloo with one coat of Piggy Polish in I and Love and Blue
Leopard is done with: Models Own Concrete, China Glaze Ingrid, and Models Own nail art pen in Black
Stripes are done with LA Nails striper in White and dots are China Glaze Blonde Bombshell
