It's day four of the Digit-al Dozen's celebration series, The Digit-al Dozen, Does it All Again! Today's challenge was art. Although I enjoy art as much as the next person, I'm not super artistic so last time we did art it was a bit of a challenge for me. This time I wanted to stick with something I know I'm pretty good at and also try to recreate something. I caught this picture of a Cy Twombly painting called "Hero and Leander" and I fell in love with it. This is actually the fourth in a series of paintings done by him. All of his work is sort of defined as calligraphic-style graffiti paintings, on solid fields of mostly gray, tan, or off-white colors.
Hero and Leander were lovers in ancient Greek mythology
who both drowned. The painting is an evocation
of death at sea, as well as their desire for one another. I love the colors and the emotion that this particular painting evokes and it was easy for me to decide to reinvent it on my nails!
I hope you love these as much as I do!!
